WPM is not the whole result
Words per minute is easy to understand, but it can hide mistakes and corrections. A slightly slower session with stable accuracy may be more useful for writing, coding, or everyday communication than a fast session that needs heavy cleanup.
Build a two-number baseline
Record both your pace and accuracy. Then try the same passage again after a short break. If speed rises while accuracy falls sharply, you may be pushing beyond a sustainable pace.
Text familiarity also matters. A passage you have seen before can produce a faster score without representing a broad improvement in typing skill.
A better practice loop
- Start at a pace where mistakes are easy to notice.
- Keep your hands relaxed and avoid unnecessary corrections.
- Increase speed in small steps only after accuracy is stable.
- Compare several passages rather than memorizing one.
Use the Typing Speed Test as a quick checkpoint, not a permanent label.
